Sometime ago I came across <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"a brief thread on Twitter by Braulio Agnese (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bagnese\/status\/1102668359785742336\" target=\"_blank\">a brief thread on Twitter by Braulio Agnese<\/a> that deserves to be highlighted in the context of Reprogramming the City and reimagining the potential of existing urban assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sharing a link to an article on Bisnow, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Can Indoor Farming Fulfill The Dream Of Opportunity Zones? (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bisnow.com\/national\/news\/opportunity-zones\/urban-farming-opportunity-zones-idea-local-grown-salads-97770\" target=\"_blank\">Can Indoor Farming Fulfill The Dream Of Opportunity Zones?<\/a>, Agnese offered his observation on an opportunity to bring indoor farming to Washington D.C.:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cA great spot in DC for this would be the old trolley tunnels beneath Dupont Circle. There&#8217;s a ton of space available that will be difficult\/expensive to make useful \u2014 if by &#8220;useful&#8221; you mean a place for ppl. Imagine the possibilities if more people took the initiative layer an idea or concept they come across on the web onto an existing, underused urban asset.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Identifying opportunity in the urban landscape is of course<a href=\"https:\/\/reprogrammingthecity.com\/about\/\"> the core mission of Reprogramming the City<\/a> and the series of <a href=\"https:\/\/reprogrammingthecity.com\/workshops\/\">workshops<\/a> I run. It thrills me to no end to see such thinking at work in daily exchanges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are no shortage of projects that make use of existing urban space for food production, many documented in <a href=\"https:\/\/reprogrammingthecity.com\/about-the-book\/\">the Reprogramming the City book<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/reprogrammingthecity.com\/buzzbuilding-stockholm\/\">on this site<\/a>. But there is a need for so many more to come to fruition.
